Now that AI is here, aren’t we supposed to be a lot less busy with… well with stuff? Creating more fulfillment in our lives, moving meaningful business KPIs and the vision forward?
In a world where AI is everywhere, we’re more “connected” and “productive” than ever. But does that mean we’re actually moving toward what matters most?
The unpopular truth: You can’t do it all.
The caveat: But you can do the right things.
But … do you know what those are and do you have a system of planning starting there?
𝐇𝐎𝐑𝐈𝐙𝐎𝐍 𝐏𝐋𝐀𝐍𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆
That’s where Horizon Planning comes in.
This is a strategy I learned about from David Allen’s Getting Things Done (GTD). It’s a process of thinking about your life from multiple perspectives, starting with purpose and values, ensuring that the actions you take today support your long-term objectives.
Horizon Planning starts with the big picture, your North Star⭐
What’s the purpose? The big WHY? Where are you going with all these to-do items? Where do you want to be in 3-5 years?
From there, you break it down into actionable steps – couple of years, 3-6 months, weeks, down to daily planning.
I use this process every Sunday to make sure my week isn’t just packed with “stuff” but with things that matter.
When everything feels urgent and overwhelming, I turn to my Horizon Planning worksheet to ensure my calendar is filling up with meaningful work and non-work activities that lead me toward my fulfillment.
Do you have a system in place for aligning your actions with your bigger vision, for life, career, business, world’s impact?
How do you make sure you’re not just busy, but doing the right things? Not becoming some AI-proficient automaton?
If you don’t have a system in place, grab my 𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐇𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐳𝐨𝐧 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬𝐡𝐞𝐞𝐭 to help you create a strategic approach to your time, energy, work.
Let’s stop just running around in AI-driven circles, let’s move towards purposeful stuff.
